International artist Eleanor King Hookham's career spanned 88 years; from drawing neighborhood children at 6 years old; to having 35 successful one-man shows in New York and Paris, France; to witnessing her most-fervent, long-held dream for which she worked tirelessly for 50 years - the opening of the Elmhurst Art Museum.
A Twentieth-Century Expressionist painter, she was also an arts' activist and founder of the Elmhurst Artists' Guild, the Elmhurst Fine Arts and Civic Center Foundation and the Elmhurst Art Museum.
